India is synonymous with being the land of tigers. With its rich and diverse landscape, India is home to a wealth of wildlife. Many national parks in India are famous for their tiger safaris while offering a great view of other wildlife and breathtaking scenery. There are many great places to see tigers in the many national parks in India. While everyone has their favorite national parks, here are some of the best national parks that are known for their tiger safaris.

1. Ranthambore National Park

Located in the heart of Rajasthan, the Ranthambore National Park is sprawled over 1300 square kilometers and is one of the most famous tiger safari national parks in India. Here at the Ranthambore National Park, you will not only be able to witness the royal beasts in their natural habitat, but you can also see the majestic Ranthambore desert in all its glory.

Bordered by the Aravali ranges in Rajasthan, the Ranthambore National Park is a popular destination for tourists from all over to observe tigers. The dry forest, steep rocky hills, and grassy fields and lakes of Ranthambore have made this a great location for spotting tigers. However, while there are many tigers in this park, it is never guaranteed that you will spot one. The best time to visit the Ranthambore National Park is between March to May. You will need around 3 to 4 hours to complete the jungle safari.

2. Kaziranga National Park

Even though the Kaziranga National Park in Assam is typically associated with being home to the mighty rhinoceros, it surprises many to learn that Kaziranga is home to one of the highest densities of tigers globally. The park was declared to be a tiger reserve in 2006. There are around 86 tigers in this area, though due to the tall elephant grass in the park, it can be a bit challenging to spot them. If you want to embark on a jungle safari in this park, the Western zone is always recommended as there is a strong probability of spotting tigers and rhinos in this part of the park.

3. Bandhavgarh National Park

Located in Madhya Pradesh, the Bandhavgarh National Park is known for being home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, the white tiger, lions, and many deers. The best time to visit this park for spotting tigers is in the months of October to November. Apart from the tiger safari, you can also take part in the elephant safari here at the Magdi Zone of the park.

4. Jim Corbett National Park

Located in the lush forested state of Uttarakhand, the Jim Corbett National Park is known for its population of tigers, lions, and elephants. The jungle safari offers here is one of the most famous as it gives you the chance to visit many waterfalls and spot some rare species of the Bengal tiger.

5. Periyar National Park

The Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Kerala, and it is one of the most famous elephants and tiger reserves in the world. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is home to 40 Bengal tigers as of 2017. When you embark on a jungle safari of this park, apart from the majestic tiger, you can also spot the Asian elephant, some white tigers, the Indian giant squirrel, and many other endangered animals.
