Itinerary
The Slumdog Millionaire Theme Tour Route Map
Day 1: Mumbai, Welcome to Incredible India!
You will be greeted & assisted by our representative at Mumbai international airport and later transferred to your hotel to check in. Remaining time is at leisure till next day.
Day 2: Mumbai, The Slumdog Millionaire Experience
Start your day with a tempting breakfast at your hotel and be ready for fun filled full day tour. Today we will take you all places in Mumbai where Slumdog Millonaire was filmed in Mumbai. Your day will start with the tour of Dharavi Slum. Which is considered "Asia's largest slum". A tour of Mumbai’s Dharavi slum compounds clichés while shattering preconceptions. Its located over parts of Sion, Bandra(E), Kurla and Kalina suburbs of Mumbai. It's sandwiched between Mahim in the west and Sion in the east. Spread over an area of 175 hectares, Dharavi has a population of more than 710,000 people according to the Time Magazine. BBC suggests it is home to over 1 million people. While Dharavi compounds countless slum clichés – you’ll encounter dusty alleys, flimsy shacks, pungent streams and heart-rending poverty – a visit will also shatter many preconceptions. Autorickshaws, cars and motorbikes charge along concrete streets lined with high-rises, sturdy brick homes, Hindu temples and mosques. Commerce reigns supreme, with rupees exchanged at little shops and market stalls, and businesses trading in everything from recycled plastic and pappadums to leather tanning. Although there’s an unmistakable air of industriousness, you’ll spot adults milling around and giggling children playing cricket using lumps of wood for bats. As you navigate Dharavi, the movie’s uplifting soundtrack is sure to run through your head – especially A. R. Rahman’s euphoric Jai Ho. From Dharavi, you will visit The Mumbai Manmad Pipeline also known as (MMPL). It was one of the most ambitious projects undertaken by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. The project was completed in mid-1998 and involved the laying of a 250 kms long petroleum product pipeline from Mumbai, on the Arabian seacoast to Manmad, located near in North-Eastern Maharashtra. Your next stop will be the railway station named Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST). A popular Bollywood shoot location, the station staged some of the most moving scenes in Danny Boyle’s multi-Oscar-winning flick, Slumdog Millionaire (2008), which was adapted from Vikas Swarup’s novel. A neo-Gothic marriage of spires, turrets and soaring arches, is arguably the most flamboyant landmark of British colonial rule in India. Formerly called Victoria Terminus, Mumbai’s main railway station is a hub of organized chaos, where millions of the city’s residents – and hundreds of confused tourists – hurry through each day. Overnight at Hotel in Mumbai.
Day 3: Bollywood Tour
After breakfast, you will leave for full day Bollywood tour. Bollywood in Mumbai has a long tradition of making movies within the Hindi film industry and this 8-hour long tour explores the Bollywood world to give you a better perspective of the history, creativity and technical aspects of this acclaimed cultural attraction. Bollywood belongs to Mumbai, and this full-day tour belongs to you. You will be picked up from your Mumbai hotel and taken to a location site to see a movie being shot. You will be escorted through a specially created studio and receive an intimate behind-the-scenes look into technicians at work. Depending on the shoot schedule, you may get a chance to peek inside a film star’s makeup room and to pose for souvenir snapshots with some Bollywood stars of today .Enjoy a Move for Dance Show based on the film music and dances of Bollywood films, a combination of formal and folk Indian traditional music and dance traditions fused with Middle Eastern techniques. Bollywood dances have evolved as a unique and energetic style. These groups of dancers will perform 5 Bollywood dances in front of the audience, and you will get a chance to learn and dance along with the dancers. We will also show you VFX clip, how makers use visual effects in Bollywood movies. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will travel to visit a second movie studio. Continue a tour past the homes of famous Bollywood stars in exclusive areas of Mumbai. Overnight at Hotel in Mumbai.
Day 4: Mumbai, City Of Dreams
Start your day with a tempting breakfast at your hotel and later you will leave for sightseeing tour of the City of Dreams, Mumbai. The tour takes you to the city’s architectural wonders namely Gateway of India and Prince of Wales Museum (one of the best museums in India which has rare collections of art, sculptures, coins). Other highlights of Mumbai you will get to explore include Chawpatty Beach, Marine Drive, Dhobi Ghat and Mani Bhawan, Mahatma Gandhi’s old residence. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Departure Mumbai Airport
Check out from your hotel and get a transfer to Mumbai International Airport. Board your return flight and fly back home with memories to cherish for life. Tour ends.
